20190211 - Howl's Moving Castle
In the weekend I watched Howl's Moving Castle at the cinema. It's really not often that I watch a movie and feel this way, that I've gained another movie that goes up in my favorites list, which is very short. So far, it's only Forrest Gump, and The Wind Rises. They are movies that mean something/a lot to me.
I started wondering (again, every time I get this feeling, usually for Final Fantasy games) how in the world do you create something as beautiful as Miyazaki's movies. It's my biggest dream to also create something beautiful that lives on. I often dream about it, and actually it sort of guides my life, but so far I havn't managed to create anything like that. I just don't really know how one brings oneself about to find the right people to work with. Because surely, Miyazaki didn't do everything by himself. For example, the movies would really not be the same without Joe Hisaishi's music. I can't do everything either, for example, I would not be able to produce such animation films. The medium I think that's closest to my abilities is the written format. Text, words, and I've heard people say I'm good at writing and using words, and connecting different artworks conceptually in my writing. So I think that's my biggest chance. So far I'm just in the embryo stage of writing, having some short stories that I don't know if I should share. I've ordered Miyazaki's biographies though! And just like how the Steve Jobs biography could inspire me deeply in my career, I hope Miyazaki's biography can inspire me deeply in my personal career to create something worthy and beautiful!
